Sustainability specialists will be converging at the ICC in Birmingham at 12 noon on Monday 15th September for an interactive debate. The focus of the debate will be looking at issues facing up and coming managers and future leaders in the development of green strategies in the work place. The event, organised by Birmingham City University, follows research into attitudes and influences in developing green policies, reviewing how individuals can pro actively apply green lifestyle choices in the workplace.

The Big Debate chaired by the BBC’s special correspondent Richard Bilton, will feature Peter Ainsworth, Shadow Environment Secretary, leading blogger for treehugger.com, Leonora Oppenheim (expert in eco design) and Birmingham Post and Mail environmental correspondent Patrice John.

A group of new and established retailers are offering eco-friendly furniture and homeware for competitive prices and we are really pleased to have been chosen as a supplier to so many already this year.

You can find selected designs from our Grass, Reee, Hoop and Twist ranges at Nigel’s Eco Store, One Eco Home, The Greenhaus and Hidden Art. More retailers will be stocking our products soon and we will be announcing them over the next few weeks.

Pli was invited to talk at the sustainable design seminar held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London on 4 March ‘08. I made a short presentation about the Reee chair to an audience of very well-informed and engaging product designers, design students, interior designers and manufacturers.

Here’s the film we have made about Pli’s Reee® chair - talking about why we have created a new product from recycled computer games consoles and how the designers Sprout have approached the challenge of meeting our demanding brief. Does the original product live on in the next? Do the games you’ve played have an echo in the seat they gave rise to? We found players to reflect some of the most popular games.

Pli is very happy to announce we have received a grant from the Enhance Capital Fund, administered by London Remade, to assist us with the product development, testing and tooling of the Reee® chair.

From 8th August you can buy Pli’s Grass Table online at the Hidden Art e-shop. The Hidden Art e-shop features designs by many of London’s most innovative and collectible designers and Pli is really pleased to have been selected.

The Reee® chair goes to the Eden Project on 25 May where it’ll be displayed as part of the kNOwtrash Exhibition in the Core Building. The kNOwtrash exhibition will be opened by Tim Smit, CEO of the Eden Project.

Pli launched our latest prototype product, the Reee™ chair, at the Metropolitan Works 07 Show on 10 May. The Metropolitan Works gallery is at 41 Commercial Road, London E1 1LA. The exhibition runs until 24 May and it’s open to the public.

Pli exhibited the Hoop and Grass tables at the [re]design exhibition. This is its second year and it has grown enormously. As before, the exposure to thousands of interested and enthusiastic visitors has given us a huge boost. This is the only annual exhibition Pli is committed to: we’ll be back in 2007.
