Sustainable furniture from Pli at new eco home project

Hyde Group, a social housing landlord, has led a project to retrofit conventional housing in the Mottingham suburb of London with the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 80%. Pli was happy to donate a Reee Chair and a Grass Media Cabinet to the interior-fit out in time for the launch last week by Dr Phyllis Starkey MP. The interior was designed and installed by One Eco Home.

This looks like a great project – it demonstrates the potential for eco housing to be made available to all sections of society and the way retrofitted materials and equipment can make the existing built environment more sustainable.

Reee chair gets 5 stars in New Consumer review

You can read the full review on New Consumer magazine’s website.

It’s great that they have recognised Sprout’s excellent work on the ergonomics of the Reee chair, which can be overlooked when people focus on the environmental credentials alone. An eco-friendly chair is no use if nobody wants to sit on it and the Reee chair is first and foremost a useful and comfortable piece of furniture.

Hello Charlotte

Charlotte Arvidsson has joined us after finishing at BIAD (Birmingham Institute of Art and Design), where she has just graduated from their product design degree course. You may know her through her high-profile ‘Q’ bar table design for the LG Hi-Macs competition which was at Tent London during last month’s London Design Festival.

Over the next four weeks she will be setting up ‘Pli Wiki’, Pli’s very own Wikipedia-style database, so we can organise and share all our product development work and knowledge with our partners.
