London Remade’s Sustainable Design seminar
Pli was invited to talk at the sustainable design seminar held at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London on 4 March ‘08. I made a short presentation about the Reee chair to an audience of very well-informed and engaging product designers, design students, interior designers and manufacturers.
You can download all the presentations, including my slides, from the London Remade site (click on the logo).

It was a worthwhile event and I found the question and answer sessions particularly interesting. I was glad of the opportunity to hear Charlie Browne from Ikea talk about their sustainable business practices (for the second time – I saw him speak at the Eden Project a couple of years ago too).
Rosie Hornbuckle is a bit of a genius too, well worth a read. There’s also a useful presentation on branding for sustainable businesses from a consultancy called Neru which I found enlightening, especially because Pli has completely rebranded itself since January. Hugh Smith at London Remade gave a thorough overview of the big picture for sustainable materials in the capital.
These seminars are held fairly regularly: I have attended a few as a listener and I’ve always found them rewarding.
