Age of Stupid

Last night I went with some friends to see the first showing of the Age of Stupid movie at the Ritzy cinema in Brixton, followed by a talk from Franny Armstrong, the director. It’s a hard-hitting film, part documentary, part dramatic dystopian prediction, released just in time to focus our attention on the upcoming Copenhagen conference when some life-changing decisions will be made for all of us.

I liked the film. Franny is obviously a very forthright person who has been living and breathing this project for a number of years. She spoke very passionately about her aim to bring the film to 250 million viewers through independent distribution. I’m doing my bit, in part, by encouraging you to watch the film when it comes to your local cinema – the Ritzy is showing it some more this weekend, for example – or contact the Age of Stupid group to request a license to show the film in your community or company.

The publicity effort for the film has been given an activist element with the launch of NotStupid.org: view the trailer here…
