Pli’s staff

Christopher Pett
Christopher founded Pli in 2003, following a 6 month research trip through Australia and India learning about sustainable design principles and bamboo processing techniques. Christopher developed Pli’s first range of bamboo occasional tables and designed the Twist bench. He is involved in all Pli’s design projects and also has responsibility for marketing and business development. Christopher’s ideas about sustainable furniture design have been featured in Grand Designs Magazine, House & Garden Magazine and BBC2′s Home interiors programme.

Alex Whitney
Alex joined Pli in 2007, straight from New Zealand’s most innovative furniture design company, Formway. His office furniture designs have been recognised at New Zealand’s national Design Awards and can be seen in Herman Miller’s product lines. At Pli, Alex has led the development of the Whitechapel collection of office and home furniture. He has responsibility for design management and all aspects of Pli’s manufacturing and production. Since joining Pli, Alex has also provided expert advice to British designers and manufacturers.

Designers

As well as producing our own designs, Pli has worked with several talented designers on projects over the years. We currently manufacture and sell products by these designers…

Guy Robinson
Guy designed the Reee chair for Pli and is a director of Sprout Design Ltd. Guy studied Manufacturing Engineering at Cambridge and then did his MA at the Royal College of Art in Industrial Design Engineering. Sprout differentiates itself from its competition through its knowledge in the areas of sustainable design and inclusive design and through its mutli-disciplinary approach. Its aim is to add value to raw materials and design innovative products that bring all the business benefits of sustainable design.

Simon Andrews
Simon designed the Wrap table for Pli. Simon, a Birmingham City University Lecturer on the BA Interior Design Course, runs his own practice, two.three.four, which acts as a brand for his design consultancy work and product development.
